Interior renovation and design
Brasserie 1885, is the new establishment belonging to the Café 1885 group. The idea arose when Santiago, responsible for the Café, proposed to expand the public with a new complementary venue.
Client: Santiago
Surface area: 169 m2
Status: Completed
Timeline: 2022
Location: Zaragoza, Spain
The concept starts from the customer’s request: to expand the offer of Café 1885. The project is based on the union of three continuous premises, and the complexity of joining them as they were located in different buildings.
To solve this, it was proposed to open three openings between the two buildings with a complex structural support, thus achieving the connection between them.
Due to its location, it was proposed to generate a focus of attraction to rehabilitate the area and introduce citizens to the Aragonese design, so it was proposed to maintain the original openings and details of facades, with the intention of being part of the regeneration of the historic center of Zaragoza, while seeking to promote the connection with its surroundings.
The original Aragonese brick walls of the building were restored. In this way, the design will be accompanied by a product that is entirely “made in Aragon”. On the other hand, the windows with large glass panes allow the interior to be bathed in light, generating warm and luminous spaces for the well-being of the clients.
The interior has an eclectic style, a complete restoration work was carried out in its vertical and horizontal envelope. All of these elements, together with the floor cut-out, the translucent marble countertop and the blue tiling as a backdrop, create a great visual comfort.
In the bar area, the false ceiling was lowered to hide all the installations, creating dynamic forms that frame the bar, which is extended in an area of stools that extends along the entire facade, providing the premises with more services.
We sought to use resistant materials that could withstand the use that a bar deserves, but without losing that essence of Aragonese warmth that provides the customer with a natural and familiar experience.
